I can’t believe that we are yet again at the end of another legendary 1965 Ride.

And what a ride it has been!!

It’s certainly true….Birds of the same feather do flock together.

This is my 4th ride.. but year after year I have been blessed with meeting incredible people and learning new things from them…

We spent last night in Aliwal where I the Mayor led the team through the town with welcoming sirens…

We left bright and early and our hearts and spirits were ready to make the last stretch home.

Bailey’s Country House was nothing but home away from home and Derek and his staff laid out their best.

Gents the chat by the barn fire last night was everything but mostly full of growth.

So much so that some of us didn’t even make it back to our own beds…. Cough cough….

We certainly lived by the ride’s ethos: as Tony would say…

Respect… Teamwork and Support!

It’s not easy having to share space with new people – but we certainly made the best out of our time together.

I can tell you now… Some of us have learned new jargon along this trip…

Kush definitely put a new meaning being a dyobist today – leaving most of us feeling like proud leaders that never fell short to being in one’s ear and making sure they know to look to their tire and not at the  top of the hill.

Seeing the town at the top of Civil and General… Gave us a sense of relief that we had finally arrived in Queenstown.. Our pit stop at the garage was super special as we patiently waited for Warren and Doug to arrive from Cape Town. A soothing prayer by the queen to keep us content. Some of us even brought Australian flags to the party with Chasing the Sun leading the Ausie –  Ausie Chant….

Someone definitely chopped onions as we made our way past Southbourne and Stepping Stone  – Principals.. your kids certainly have great spirit.

Arrival at the Rec was as always a feeling one can’t describe.

The welcome war cries were breath taking and SOME even got to brag about their mothers being there.

Today goes down in history… Imagine Nopasika complaining about speed while having ridden on her electric Derailer the entire trip..

Always remember teammates…

Every pedal is a pedal towards a great future for a child, so team…let’s keep pedaling!

Then…

Ladies and Gentleman

BOYS AND GIRLS as… TA MORAAAA would say….

Nopasika aka Ms. Pas

Mxolisi aka MX…

Makhaya Ntini

And

Kaya Malotana

Are the official 1965 Ride Cyclists for 2025 – and guys we have evidence!

J9 and Lars…. I don’t think it’s Negotiable….

OH And Kush….keep your schedule open we may just need entertainment and a photographer that’s willing to lie flat on her tummy while taking content….

Then lastly

I have a huge thank you lingering in my heart. Tony and Jen you guys have once again made the impossible possible.

It certainly doesn’t go without show.

There is one more important person I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart and I’m sure the team would agree. MX… Please come up.

You certainly came into this having one job title and walked away with many more. Which you did so gracefully and with such an amazing attitude. You certainly lived the 3 values…

And for that I would like to share my medal with you. Well done sir.

Setu Skeps… Thanks for doing the blog by yourself 🙂 xxx
