Day 2: From Villiers to Reitz.

Today’s 101.24 km hurt a little more than yesterday’s, we had some long uphills but they came with some lovely downhills too.  Once again, we were completely blessed with the wonderful “Affogato” weather (a beautiful ice cream breeze with hot coffee sun)…we were also blessed with the big blue sky, the stunning pinks and white Cosmos, the fragrant aromas of the kakiebos in the air, the beautiful Free State’s rolling hills, the fluffy white cotton wool clouds the abundance of beautiful butterflies, the cows and calves running in the fields, the warmth of the sun on our backs.  Today was a day to be grateful. It served as a reminder of why we are here, cycling 850 km’s through God’s country, some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.   Raising awareness and money for education.  What an amazing feeling of doing something great for such a great cause.

Some of our stats for today are, our average speed was 18.4 km/h; our total moving time was 5h 29 minutes; our average heart rate was 126 bpm; and the total elevation gain was 1066 m. Today was a hard day but it was a good day.  Tonight we will sleep well after our hearty meal at Poelanie’s in Reitz.
